49th Parallel Crop To Cup Story

Finca Don Angel is located between two steep mountains in La Libertad Huehuetenango, Guatemala, between 1700-1900 masl. Renardo “Nayo” Ovalle bought Don Angel in 2017, with the aim to improving specialty varieties like Caturra, San Ramon and Bourbon.

Being a third-generation producer, Renardo was born into a family of coffee producers' tradition, and since childhood he lived among coffee farms. Now being an agronomist, he is focused on producing quality coffee in both washed and natural coffee. Alongside his wife Jaqueline, he is the current manager of coffee exporting company “Vides 58”, which was founded in 1958 by Renardo’s grandfather Jorge Vides.

The Vides family is now 3 generations into coffee production and have become world renowned for not only the delicious coffee they produce but the positive impact they have on the local community in Huehuetenango. They are heavily involved in environmental conservation, development of schools in the local area and improving the living conditions of their workers.
