Sourcing Story

La Colmena is located in the Las Flores region of Santa Barbara. Arturo Paz is a 3rd generation producer, his grandfather being one of the first to grow coffee in the area. On his farm, he expertly produces predominantly Pacas and Catuai varieties, alongside other crops like plums and pears.

Arturo is also the chief agronomist of coffee exporter BSV (Beneficio San Vicente), joining the family business in 2000. In this role he provides feedback and support to producers across Santa Barbara, elevating the quality region-wide. BSV and the Paz family are recognized across the entire specialty coffee industry for their integral role in the now-famous quality of Santa Barbara coffees.

Arturo is at the forefront, receiving numerous excellent placements in Honduras ‘Cup of Excellence’ competition over recent years. His lots are a highlight for us when we make our annual selections with BSV, always demonstrating some of the best qualities the region has to offer.
