Elmer Guevara and Leyla Mondragon are small holder producers, owning a few small farms in the communities of Viste Alegre and Bomboca, Peru.
One of their farms which they have owned since 2006 is named El Goyo, which is 2 hectares and located just outside the town of Viste Alegre. Their other farm is named El Bolsal which they have had since 2012. El Bolsasl is 1 hectare and in the community of Bomboca.
Alongside coffee, Elmer and Leyla grow other crops on their farms such as yuca, plantain, guaba and lemons.
In 2017, Elmer and Leyla begun submitting their coffees to Origin Coffee Lab, a quality focused coffee exporter working out of Jaen, Peru. With their help providing feedback on processing and cherry selection the quality of their coffee increased, allowing them to receive higher prices for their lots. Now, alongside Origin Coffee Lab, they are part of a new generation of Peruvian producers who are leading the way in helping to increase the quality and sustainability of coffees in this region.
