Producing both washed and natural process coffees, we found the washed process coffee from Taltalcha to have a navel orange sweetness, as well as notes of apricot and other stone fruit. Expect a softer acidity and a very creamy, full mouthfeel.

    Taltalcha washing station in Ethiopia is located in the Guji region, Oda Shakiso district. Owned by Abraham Bagasho, they are receiving and processing coffee cherries from over 120 farming families in the surrounding area.

    Most of the farmers are producing coffee between 1700 - 2100 m.a.s.l, with the average producer’s farm being around 1 hectare in size. Varieties found are local heirloom and JARC varieties. JARC varieties are cultivars that were developed by the Jimma Agricultural Research Centre (JARC), in order to improve disease and pest resistance while increasing crop yield.

    Not bad but not great

    This coffee was decent but didn’t have any distinguishing characteristics. The flavor is a little light and was hoping for more of a sweet berry note.

    The best of the best

    Tried 15 to 20 different blends over the past couple of years and this is the only one we order now. Far superior to the rest, although the breakfast blend is great when they have it.
