Sourcing Story

49th Parallel Crop To Cup Story

Raro Boda wet mill is owned and operated by coffee entrepreneur Negusse Debela, who has built years of experience working in wet mills throughout Uraga, Guji. Raro Boda is located on the East of Uraga which has now become famous for its remarkable cup profile. The wet mill was established in 2018 with an estimated 674 farmers deliver red cherry to this wet mill. The wet mill prepares a total of 800 bags of washed specialty coffee per year.

SNAP Specialty Coffee has renovated the wet mill fermentation tank with ceramic cover which has resulted in clean and refreshing cup profile on the washed coffees that the wet mill prepares.

SNAP are a quality focused coffee exporter based in Ethiopia. They are operating on a model of full integration. This means they own and operate washing stations, a logistics company, a dry mill and a coffee laboratory in the capital city of Addis Ababa. This approach to coffee in Ethiopia is only possible in recent years and offers never before seen levels of control and traceability across the entire process.

The face of this operation is Abenezer Asfaw, who is the supply chain manager at SNAP. He visited us at the roastery in 2019 and gave a lot of insight to the direction Ethiopian coffee production is heading in, which was very informative and exciting.

SNAP coffees are one of the brightest points in our purchasing calendar every year and Raro Boda is a great reason why!
