Expect an ultra crisp and juicy cup in this lot from Finca Huehuetepan, with mouth watering notes of tamarind, cherry juice and a refreshing, apple-like sweetness.

SOURCING STORY

We’re very excited to be featuring this coffee, our second of two offerings from Finca Huehuetepan for 2022. It’s an anaerobically fermented washed process lot of Typica variety. Here are some words from the producer, Carlos Cadena, on the farm: “Finca Huehuetepan is located at 1,350 meters above sea level, in the Municipality of Cosautlán de Carvajal, Veracruz. It has been in the family for 4 generations. It is mostly Typica variety and measures approximately 23 hectares. 10 years ago, I began dividing the coffee that was produced on the farm and adding new varieties. Washed was the only process we would do. 3 years ago, with the help of a friend from Taiwan, we began processing naturals and honeys, which in the last 2 years and based on experimentation, have reached the level of what is being exported today. Processes with more measurements and prolonged fermentations. This year, due to experimentation, not many batches of the Typica variety came out, but we did achieve some of higher quality, such as the Cup of Excellence lot. On the farm, work has been done with new genetic materials such as the Gesha and Pacamara varieties, which will be available in the coming years in addition to the Typica variety. Experiments have been carried out with other varieties that have adapted very well to the land and climatic conditions and which have also shown good results in terms of quality.”
