Ethiopia Banko Gotiti Espresso
DIRECT TRADE COFFEE
Banko Gotiti comes from the Gedeb district of Ethiopia, comprised of coffee grown by numerous smallholder producers in the area. As espresso, expect refreshing aromatics of mint and black tea alongside a sweetness and acidity like a ripe nectarine.
Banko Gotiti represents a group of farmers that formed in 20212 as an offshoot of the larger nearby Worka co-operative. They are located in the district of Gedeb, which lies in the south-eastern part of the larger Gedeo zone. Coffee grown in this part of Ethiopia can be some of our favourites in the whole country, usually boasting extremely complex and clean cup profiles. This coffee was exported to us by the Mijane family, who in recent years have obtained their own coffee export license in Ethiopia. Daniel and his father Ato Mijane, as well as exporting coffee, own and manage two washing stations near Banko Gotiti, Worka Sakaro and Halo Hartume. This coffee was processed just south of the Worka Sakaro washing station. Together they are both investing in the sustainability of the surrounding community, helping to build roads, schools and other vital infrastructure.
