Ethiopia Gedeb Single Origin Espresso


A light roast espresso.


This lot from Kochere, Gedeo region in Ethiopia represents 650 farmers who own small farms in the area. The coffee is grown around Gedeo and then taken to the Gedeb mill where it is processed together. Like many coffee farms in Ethiopia, Gedeo is found at 2000-2100 meters above sea level. In this region coffee is harvested between October to January. This is our last coffee from last years season and it has aged remarkably well. When the fresh crop landed it had not rested long enough. After spending time in our warehouse this coffee is now presentable in its best condition.

Under the supervision of Abeyot Ageze, cherries are carefully sorted, wet pulped, fermented and then washed. Thin layers of cherries are placed on the drying table and turned ever 2 to 3 hours to prevent any over fermentation. Depending on the sun, the coffee is dried for 12-15 days.

This coffee is an extraordinary representation of the area with an exciting floral aroma, sweet earl grey & a lavender finish.

For all espresso we recommend the following parameters (for an 18g VST Precision Filter Basket):

  • 18 grams of freshly ground coffee
  • Timer for 28-32 seconds
  • Pull 37-39 grams of liquid espresso
  • Grouphead at 200° F
  • 9 bars of pressure
