Description
This lot from Kelvin Pineda blew us away with its sweetness, complexity and mouthfeel - expect a big bodied coffee with ripe fruit acidity like blackberry and sweet, vanilla-like floral notes.
SOURCING STORY
Finca Arianita is owned by Kelvin Pineda, located in the hills of Santa Barbara, Honduras. Kelvin purchased this land from his father-in-law Elio Diaz, who is the owner of ‘Piedras Amarillas’,one of our longest, most important relationships in Honduras. Naming the farm after his daughter, Kelvin manages the 2500 trees on Arianita with meticulous care and a focus on natural stewardship of the land In 2017, he switched his coffee production to focus on specialty quality, with tremendous results. He’s growing primarily Bourbon and Pacas varieties, with some Catimor as well. He’s also started experimenting with non-washed processes like natural and honey, with promising results. In 2019, Kelvin entered a lot of fully washed Bourbon variety in the 2019 ‘Best of Honduras’ late harvest auction, coming in an outstanding first place! This is a monumental achievement and we’re very proud to be able to showcase such a talented producer. This lot is a washed process blend of the different varieties Kelvin grows on Finca Arianita.
