Celebrating Rwanda Abakundakawa: A Coffee Co-op Powered by Women and Community
This year, our Roastery has chosen Rwanda Abakundakawa as our special 'World's Best' Mother’s Day roast — a meaningful way to celebrate the strength, care, and spirit of the greatest moms.
SOURCING STORY
Grown in Rwanda’s northern highlands, Abakundakawa Rushashi produces vibrant, high-altitude coffee with a focus on quality and community. Established in 2004, the co-op has grown from 180 to over 2,000 members and was the first in Rwanda to champion women in the coffee value chain through the Hinga Kawa association. Certified Fairtrade and Organic, Abakundakawa continues to lead with integrity and impact. While Rwanda and Anakundakawa are known for washed coffees, we were drawn to the ripe fruit flavors found in this delicately processed natural lot.
