Description
In this lot from San Juan, enjoy a crystal clean, rounded mouthfeel with a softer red apple type acidity. This is complimented by a deep confectionary sweetness like almond and dates.
SOURCING STORY
Finca San Juan is in the Antigua region of Guatemala, owned by Elizabeth de Figueroa and Eduardo Figueroa. It has been managed by Luis Pedro Zelaya since 2010. At San Juan the coffee is shaded and protected by surrounding foliage. After processing, it is carefully dried on raised beds in a greenhouse with a ventilated roof - ideal for slow, even drying. The focus on agronomical practices here are quite outstanding, from soil renewal, irrigation control to pruning and picking - a year-round project that brings us some of our favorite coffees from Guatemala. Cherries from San Juan are then milled at Bella Vista mill, which is also managed by Luis Pedro Zelaya. A trained agronomist and 4th generation coffee producer, Luis and his team are elevating the coffee quality year after year as well as providing education and work for the surrounding community. We’ve happily worked with the Zelaya family and Bella Vista for many years and they continue to deliver superbly clean and delicious coffees.
