Description
This Hafi lot comes from Muyinga Province in northeastern Burundi, where Bourbon coffee is cultivated across remote, high elevation hillsides. The Hafi processing station brings cherry collection closer to approximately 2,000 smallholder farmers, allowing freshly harvested fruit to reach processing more quickly. Naturally processed at 1,715 metres above sea level, the coffee develops concentrated fruit sweetness and a smooth, rounded body. Roasted medium-light for filter brewing, the cup offers expressive notes of strawberry, honey and dried cherry, supported by lively acidity and a delicate floral finish.
SOURCING STORY
The Hafi processing station serves approximately 2,000 smallholder coffee farmers in the remote hills of Muyinga Province, Burundi. Before the station opened, some producers faced a journey of approximately 20 kilometers over steep and sometimes rain-damaged roads to deliver freshly harvested cherry. “Hafi,” meaning “close” or “near” in Kirundi, reflects how the station brought professional processing closer to the surrounding farming communities. Experienced local staff carefully manage the natural process, helping preserve the sweetness, fruit character and clean cup quality of the region’s high-elevation Bourbon coffee.
