WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • Double Shot: 18g coffee / 36-40g liquid Espresso / 28-32 seconds*
  • Grind: Fine
  • Featuring: Breville Barista Express
STEP 1:

DOSE 18G OF COFFEE INTO YOUR BASKET

Palm tap the sides of the portafilter to level out the bed and rest the edge of the porta filter on a flat, soft surface

STEP 2:

WITH YOUR THUMB AND INDEX FINGER AT THE EDGE OF THE TAMPER, TAMP WITH A STRAIGHT WRIST AND PRESSURE COMING FROM YOUR SHOULDER UNTIL YOU FEEL THE ESPRESSO FULLY COMPRESSED 



STEP 3:

FLUSH YOUR GROUPHEAD FOR 1-2 SECONDS, AND WAIT FOR WATER DRIPS TO STOP

STEP 4:

INSERT PORTA FILTER

Place Scale with cup below spouts

 

STEP 5:

START BREW AND TIMER AT THE SAME TIME

Stop the shot about 2g before your target weight; the remaining 2g will drain out from inside the portafilter basket

 

Tips:

  • *If your espresso machine runs lower than 9 bars pressure, then your target extraction time should be increased accordingly
  • If shot is too fast: grind finer = slower extraction
  • If shot is too slow: grind coarser = faster extraction
