India Ratnagiri HP 14

India Ratnagiri HP 14

Proudly presenting our next Small Lot Series coming from India, Karnataka region. Ratnagiri estate farm, owned and managed by Ashok Patre, has been our partner in India for the past three years and has proven to be fertile ground for exciting new adventures in coffee. We have worked really hard in the past year to distinguish all of the lots to find a better cup of coffee. Focusing on selective sorting before depulping and building a group of experienced pickers was the foundation of our operation. This year Ashok guided us through his entire 200 acre farm, searching for contrasting microclimates and seeking the sweetest tasting cherries.

We decided to differentiate the varieties first, creating different blocks at the farm divided by name and elevation. From these blocks, Ashok enthusiastically helped us experiment with different processing methods including honey, natural, washed and “kim chi” style fermentations. After cupping these experiments, Ashok has received valuable feedback on how to pair different varietals with different types of processing methods in future harvests.

As a result, Ratnagiri HP 14 stands out from the dozens of permutations that we tasted. This perfectly dried black honey process is going to give you a superb representation of not only Ratnagiri Estate, but Indian speciality coffee as a whole.

In the cup expect blood orange and cherry cola flavours with sweet tropical fruit type of sweetness, this is a high bodied coffee that has sparkling acidity.
